COVID 19 and Your Dayton Heating and Cooling System

COVID 19 and Your Dayton Heating and Cooling System

COVID 19 disrupted life in Dayton—and throughout the world– over the last several months.  Scientists work feverishly to unlock the secrets of controlling this plague. Yet, there is still so much we don’t know.

Lifestyle Comfort Solutions cannot guarantee that we can prevent exposure to COVID 19 within your home. There is still so much to learn.

However, the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, who sets the highest standards for the industry, released preliminary guidelines for homeowners and businesses.

Here’s how Lifestyle Comfort Solutions can help:

Improve Ventilation

At one time, homes benefitted from fresh air coming into the building around doors, and windows.  However, random leaks like these were costly and drafts robbed us of comfort.  The prescription? Tighter buildings.

Regrettably, the cure came with side effects.  Breathing dirty air in our homes and workspaces is a culprit in breathing disorders, difficulty concentrating, and a host of other ailments.

Poor indoor air quality became so widespread, it was given a name—sick building syndrome.

Mechanical ventilation significantly improves indoor air quality.  Mechanical ventilation brings in fresher outdoor air, and dilutes stale air trapped in the building.

As the owner of Lifestyle Comfort Solutions, I recently added improved mechanical ventilation to my own home.  Installation took only took a few hours, and made no real mess. The cost was manageable.

There are a variety of ways to direct fresh air into your home. Trust Lifestyle Comfort Solutions to help you to select the right accessory to meet your need and budget.

Clean the Air

Just as with ventilation systems, Lifestyle Comfort Solutions offers a variety of ways to clean the air you breath.  Kill germs. Reduce mold/mildew. Combat allergens, dander, and dust mites in the air.

Ultra-violet light, introduced about 20 years ago, remain popular and effective.

iWave ion technology is taking the country by storm.  The iWave creates no harmful ozone.  It is cost-effective and requires no expensive replacement parts.

Ever stood by a waterfall, and breathed in the refreshing mist off the water?  You were experiencing iWaves! Now you can experience that same freshness in your home or workplace.

Add an electronic air cleaner to your new or existing system.  Your family or workforce will enjoy clean, fresh, healthier air with each breath.

Your home or workplace will benefit from installing just one of these accessories.  Or, you can do as I did.  Add all three over a period of several years, as the budget allowed, to create the ultimate in indoor air quality.

Whether you are installing a new system, or adding to an existing one, Lifestyle Comfort Solutions can help you “Breathe Easy!”

Regularly Maintain Your System

Regular maintenance is the single most important way to protect both the air you breathe and the performance of your heating/cooling system.

Change the filter regularly—according to manufacturer specifications.

Upgrade your filter to catch the smallest particles of dirt, dust, dander, mites, and irritants.

MERV measures filter effectiveness. The higher the MERV, the more indoor pollutants are removed from the air you breath.  A simple 1” filter does little, if anything, to clean the air you breath.

A filter upgrade is relatively simple and rarely cost-prohibitive.

Commit to regular seasonal maintenance.  Invest in coil cleaning.  Your professional Lifestyle Comfort Solutions technician can recommend ways to clean the inside of your heating/cooling units to protect the air you breath as it passes through the system.
